Why Did Bill Gates Make Sudden U-Turn On Climate Doom Narrative?

The main issues with equatorial regions is the deserts and type of land. C02 is fixing the deserts. Will the changing climate warm these areas more, or not so much? Seems the main changes are seen nearer the poles.
