UCP budget, is 20% higher than Rachel Notley’s?

It looks like Premier Danielle Smith is back at it with new ways to dig deeper into our pockets. They’re calling it a recycling program, but let’s call it what it really is—a new green tax on toys and almost everything we use!

Starting April 1, 2025, the government plans to slap extra fees on a whole bunch of stuff, from your trusty lawnmower and that coffee maker you rely on every morning to the cell phones we can’t live without. And don’t get me started on the kids' video games and toys. It’s all part of this expanded eco-fee program to help with recycling. They say it’s for the environment, but why does it feel like just another hit to our wallets?

Here’s the kicker: all this is happening while we're all still trying to keep up with the skyrocketing cost of living. Gas prices, groceries, you name it, everything’s going up. Now this? More fees on our everyday essentials. It just doesn’t seem fair, does it?

I’m all for caring for our planet, but there has to be a better way to do this without making everything more expensive for us regular folks. Isn’t life pricey enough already without adding extra costs to everything we buy?

So, what do you think? Are you as fed up as I am with these constant new taxes from our Premier, who told us all she was a fiscal conservative?

Does she need more ways to tax us to pay for her budget, which is 20% higher than Rachel Notley’s?

If this strikes a chord with you, I say we make some noise. Let’s tell Premier Smith and her team that we’ve had enough of being nickel and dimed.

If we can tighten our belts, so can she. Instead of taxing us more, why not spend less?

There was an incredible lady who had a fantastic saying, “We don’t have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem!” I wish that lady was still around…

We need to stand up and say no to these never-ending tax hikes.

If you want to help, sign our petition to get the flat tax back to get the message to her that we want a more affordable Alberta!
