Don't be fooled by the latest propaganda campaign by our government. Much like the last one, it's also full of misinformation and doesn't actually address the problems in Alberta schools.
The first claim is that they are spending $8.6 billion to build 130 new schools. This isn't accurate, they are building 90 new schools and modernizing or replacing 24, then expanding their modular classroom program. Further to that, this isn't an immediate investment. It is over the next seven years. In her announcement of this investment on September 17, 2024, Danielle Smith told Albertans that our schools increase by 33000 students a year. Which means Alberta will increase its student population by approximately 231k students in that 7 years. Smith said these builds will create around 200k student spaces. That doesn't even meet the needs of the estimated growth, much less the current student population crisis.

This is a very interesting post by Denis Rancourt. He is a really smart guy and has a lit to say about our current situations.
This article got me thinking about where we find our stability in life. If we rely on the government and social institutions, we are very vulnerable. If however we draw stability from our faith and personally experienced community, we may fare better. Perhaps that is why there is an assault on faith and self reliance in this country.
