First Nations council denounces B.C. plan to suspend Indigenous rights law
British Columbia Premier David Eby announced on April 2 that his government would introduce legislation to temporarily suspend key sections of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, a move that has drawn fierce opposition from Indigenous leaders who called it a "unilateral betrayal" of the province's reconciliation commitments
