STOP BILL C-22!
A message from Project Confederation:
Despite the concerns raised by privacy advocates, cybersecurity experts, legal scholars, opposition MPs, and nearly 20,000 Canadians who signed our petition, yesterday the Liberal government rushed Bill C-22 through the committee stage of Parliament.
The Liberals had a choice.
They could have taken more time to consider the concerns that have been raised.
They could have allowed additional debate and scrutiny of a Bill that would dramatically expand government surveillance powers.
They could have listened to the growing number of Canadians speaking out against the legislation.
Instead, they chose to accelerate the process.
And they were only able to do that because they now have the votes.
Before the floor crossings, the Liberals did not have the numbers needed to push controversial legislation through Parliament on their own.
The MPs who crossed the floor handed the government the votes it needed, and Bill C-22 is one of the first major examples of what that ...
According to Brotzel and Crosby courtesy of Rod Bell, Premier Smith is going to announce Danielle bucks this afternoon. I would prefer they save it but the unions would go on a tirade so better money back to Albertans and keep the gas tax as summer is here and the tourists from other provinces can subsidize us for a change. If oil is over the magic number next quarter then lower the gas tax. Thoughts?
