Here’s how stupid modern Canadian politics has become.

We live in a country where the loudest people scream “eat the rich” cheer when Teslas get vandalized, foam at the mouth over billionaires, rail against corporations, blame the elites for everything, and posture endlessly about justice, equity and the little guy.

And then they turn around and vote for a Davos banker.

Not a welder. Not a builder. Not a farmer. Not a small business owner. Not even some old school liberal who still vaguely pretends to care about the working class. No, they handed the country to a global finance creature who parachuted into Canadian politics from the stratosphere, grabbed the wheel, and started pulling levers on behalf of the exact class of people liberals claim to hate.

That’s the joke. That’s the scam.

The same people who want to burn symbols of wealth voted for a man who practically is a symbol of transnational wealth. A banker. A globalist. A man marinated in elite institutions. A man whose instincts, loyalties and worldview are rooted in boardrooms, summits and investment networks, not in the actual lives of ordinary Canadians trying to survive rent, groceries, collapsing services and an economy being hollowed out in real time.

And liberals swallowed it whole.

They didn’t just vote for him. They insulated him. They gave the Liberal machine a total escape hatch from the wreckage of the last 11 years. They allowed the same political project that drove up costs, crushed housing affordability, weakened national cohesion, flooded the country without a serious plan for integration, and turned Canada into a more fragile, more indebted, more anxious place to simply change the salesman and keep the same rotten product on the shelf.

That is what Carney is. Regime continuity in a cleaner suit.

And the most pathetic part is the excuse making. Because the second you point out that Pierre would have been better for jobs, growth, investment, affordability, resource development and national confidence, liberals immediately retreat into the same propaganda script.

“He would have sold us out to America.”
“He would have made us the 51st state.”
“He would have surrendered our sovereignty.”

Really?

Because now the same people are flirting with a deeper relationship with Europe under some dressed up label like “associate member,” as if rebranding subservience makes it noble. They spent months acting like any warmer relationship with the United States was treason, but getting pulled deeper into the orbit of the EU somehow counts as enlightened internationalism.

Call it whatever you want. Dress it up in whatever marketing language you like. “Associate member.” “Strategic partner.” “Special framework.” It’s the same thing at the core... a weaker Canada attaching itself to bloated foreign bureaucracies because its own leadership is too incompetent and too ideologically warped to defend the obvious truth.

Our lives do not get better by pretending Europe can replace America.

The numbers do not change because your feelings got activated. Roughly three quarters of our trade goes to the United States. The EU is nowhere close. Geography is real. Markets are real. Supply chains are real. Energy flows are real. Industrial integration is real. You cannot diversify your way out of the fact that Canada is economically tied to the largest, richest and most powerful consumer market on earth sitting directly beneath us.

That's reality.

But reality is exactly what this government and its voters can no longer tolerate. So instead of dealing with reality, they perform patriotism online, chant slogans, slap flags on everything, scream “Elbows Up,” and pretend emotional theatre is a substitute for statecraft.

It isn’t.

You do not save a country by making it poorer out of spite.
You do not defend sovereignty by wrecking your economy.
You do not become stronger by cutting yourself off from your largest customer while crawling toward weaker alternatives.
And you do not prove you love Canada by voting for global financiers who have spent their lives serving the interests of international capital and then pretending they’re suddenly nationalist champions.

It’s all theatre. Expensive, destructive theatre.

Pierre would have understood the assignment. Grown the economy. Build things. Unleash our resource sector. Make Canada attractive to investment. Bring back competence. Restore affordability. Speak clearly. Negotiate from reality, not from delusion. He would have positioned this country to thrive, not to posture.

And yes, liberals know that too. Deep down, they know it. That’s why the propaganda had to be so relentless. That’s why the conversation had to become hysterical. Because once the public calmly compares outcomes instead of slogans, the whole fraud collapses.

So here we are.

A country run by people who hate markets unless a banker is managing them.
A population lecturing everyone about elites while kneeling before one.
A government weakening the country and calling it strategy.
And a media class helping sell the decline one euphemism at a time.

Canada is not being conquered in a day. It is being managed into weakness.

Day by day.
Deal by deal.
Narrative by narrative.
Lie by lie.

And if Canadians don’t wake up soon, they’re going to look around one day and realize they didn’t lose their country in some dramatic collapse.

They gave it away slowly, smugly, and under the illusion that they were doing the moral thing.
